Good for you on dropping the Tums habit! Are you doing anything for meal replacement shakes/protein?

Just an update. I'm doing awesome now. My body is really balancing out. I don't have these symptoms anymore.

I had a session with Jon 2 weeks ago and I highly recommend it if you are in the area!

    Thanks everyone for the replies!

    Tandi and Nick,

Great feedback! Tandi, I like your info on WAP foundation.

This post turned into a post about veganism and if it is healthy or not vs my legs were bruising a little easier I need some advise. :)

It would be interesting to see what Jon has to eat to keep his body style and athletic frame. When I started the Vegan thing I did a lot of processed soy products at first (probably like most transitioners). I don't think this was too healthy. I then migrated into more raw hemp and rice protiens when I started doing Monkeybar. I have now added some Spirulina (15 to 20grams day). I am now on a journey to find foods closest to their natural state. I think this is the healthiest way to go.

If you get a chance check out Gary Null @ GaryNull.com. He has a bunch of videos on Google. The one that inspired me was Gary Null's "Change Your Life" on google video. I cannot send the link from here at work.

    Thank you for the feedback!
    I like the transition comment.

I just started taking Spirulina and in a couple of days here I noticed a big difference in a few areas. I'm sure I was just not getting enough protien and maybe iron. But, everyone is different. I've ruined my intestinal track eating like crap for 30 years and my guess is that I am going through a heavy detox and it will take a while to get use to what I am doing. Right now I feel like i'm 18 again!

That story in NY times is sad. They should run more stories on what is in the fast food and the kids being diagnosed with diabetes. I know a few vegan raised children and they are very healthy and clear minded. I think the key is balance. Search google video for Famous Vegans or Vegan Athletes. YOU WILL BE SUPRISED ON WHO YOU SEE IS/WAS! Mark Twain and Albert Einstein were vegetarians.

Jack Lellane was basically a vegan for a while and has lived a close to vegan lifestyle. When he was 45 he did 1000 pushups and 1000 pull-ups in 1 hour. He does 50grams of soy protien every morning and he rarely eats fish and never eats anything from a cow.

I'm going to keep moving forward with it. I'm thinking the Spirulina is going to help and I've been doing a lot better with the hemp. Transitioning right :)

    Thanks for the posts!

Check out those famous vegans on google video too.

    Hi Guys and Gals,

I started the Monkey Bar Gym workouts about 3 months ago and have been loving it! I gained 17lbs of muscle right away. I do have some questions though on nutrition.
I've been a vegan now for about 8 months (that is when I read The China Study). I am 6'4" and I went from 205lbs to 183. This didn't bother me too much because I felt ok and when I was a High School basketball player I was 185lbs. After being introduced to Monkey Bar and doing pull-ups and pushups in the last few months I am up to 200lbs. I took some suggestions on diet from this site and increased my protein intake with my workouts and I saw some good gains. My protein sources are mainly from rice, hemp and soy supplements. I eat a big organic salad with a lot of oils every day. I do not cheat and only buy organic. I am having a challenge though with my lower legs.
Ever since I started doing the diet my legs by my ankles and around my calves have been showing bruises, varicose veins and swelling. I'm not sure if it is something in my diet that is causing this area either to be inflamed or maybe my body isn't getting enough of something to repair (protein?). A friend of mine who has been a vegetarian for the last four years (he used the Gerson therapy for his cancer) also has the deal with bruising and veins in this area... hmmmm...
    Anyone have any suggestions?
