I am a Peer Fitness Trainer at my Fire Department. We are certified through ACE and need to complete 1.5 CEU hours every two years. I would really like to come to Madison and take the CNT class, but I would need to have it count toward my CEU's or my department will not pay for it. According to the website the class gives CEU's to a few orginizations , but currently does not recognize ACE. Are there any plans to give credit to ACE certified trainers in the near future?

    Carl,
I used to do a lot of triathlons, sprint to Half Iron distance before I blew a disc in my back. I can no longer run with the back injury, but when I was doing Triathlons I used a website (www.trinewbies.com). They had many training programs (free) and they were quite helpful for me. The same qualites that drew me to the monkeybar gym site are found on this site. They spell out every workout for you and gradually increase your intensity, and work in your taper period as well. The workouts are great because they give you concrete goals to accomplish and you don't have to guess about distances and intensity. I was able to finish in the top 10 in my age group consistently using their programs. To get to the free training plans go to the bottom right under resources and click (training prog).

    Tim,
I have a Tanita (Ironman) scale. I really like this model because you can select body type. It has 4 settings male, female, athletic male, and athletic female. The scale also has 4 presets, so 4 different users can save their info. The most important thing about using any body fat scale is to make sure you are hydrated and that your feet are clean. For the best results you should always weigh yourself at a similar time and similar hydration level. I am a peer fitness trainer at the Fire Department I work for, and I use the same scale at work as another measuring tool during yearly fitness testing.
