Welcome to the jungle Maura. You've made a great choice. I've been doing the workouts on the MBG site since the first of the year and I can tell you that if you follow the plans - you WILL!!! see results.
Thank you for the insight Jason. Since I've started boot camp I've really started to see the residual BF melt away. Maybe my worries were a bit obsessive since I have no desire to compete, in bodybuilding. I'll let my dietitian concern herself with my BF levels, too low or high. The most important component in shedding the extra BF, I believe, is my purchase of the gymboss interval timer. My HIIT training has become much more efficient.
A year from now should be impressive, given the results thus far. I'll start the "Boot Camp" after memorial day weekend. The toughest thing will be the diet. I tend to eat on the fly a lot, but I'll have to really work on having a day's meals ready, the night before. After the 60DC was done a started doing the MBG W.O.'s and I'm really enjoying them. Once I focus on them, in the context of the BC, along with diet considerations, it should be fun.
Well, I finished the challenge which gets me off to a new beginning: BOOT CAMP.
I didn't lose a ton of weight and really didn't expect to given that I'd lost quite a bit before I even started. A couple things did happen, however, that were great. People have really taken notice of the change I've made: "holy shit” and "damn you look good" are two of the most common things I hear. I also get a lot of questions about how I've made this turn around. So, along with pimping the other things I do - I am constantly pimping MBG.
I was also battling cholesterol - and I won! I don't have to go on statins for the rest of my life. I've shown my doctor and dietician I can control it with diet and exercise. Oddly, I ran across the MBG in a mag at my doctor’s office. This is a huge success for me.
I also got turned onto Yoga, and joined a regular class. So you see being healthy has become pervasive and really pushed my focus towards living healthy.
My endurance has increased dramatically. I can do 2-3 minutes of hardcore, full contact, Tang Soo Do sparring and keep my breath under control - this is amazing in light of where I once was.
My biggest challenge is diet. I suck at this. It's not that I eat badly. I have 5 to 6 small meals a day, take a multi, along with protein and omega 3 supplements. I am cognizant of the types of food I eat and what's in them. My problem is that I really enjoy my fun day(s) and I loooove chocolate. I have so little time in the day to do what I have to do that I neglect keeping up on my food journal. My biggest problem is that I don't have time to do a lot of cooking and preparing - so I tend to eat on the fly. This is one area, during Boot camp, that I will really work hard at changing.
Jumping exercises are a bitch for me. I've got terrible knees and a bilateral scope, two years ago, has left me with little meniscus in either knee. Sometimes the grinding and pounding is more than I can take - and I can put up with a considerable amount of pain. Jogging, Jump rope, and pistols really do a job on me.
Right now I'm at about 183, and 9.5 % BF. I've got some toning to do in the abs area which is fine - I'm down from a max of 225 so I'm not gonna bitch about "a little left to go". I've got everything ready for Boot camp so I'll get started w/in a week. I t is working out to be a butt whopping summer, with Boot Camp, Yoga, and a possibility to test for black belt in October.
Weight is stable, I can see the muscle building and the fat falling off - not much of that left. I had about a week of, consecutive, sick days during my challenge. I tried to work through it, but wasn't real effective.
I went back and revisted my 60/30's. My numbers below are todays and to the right my over or under from the begining of my challenge.
My endurance is much better this time around. I'm feeling great about everything, and I'm sure I'll knock off the rest of the pounds now that it's warm out and I'm even more active.
Had a nasty cold for the last couple weeks. I tried to workout through it as much as possible but still needed to take about 5 days off. I'm back to the fun and, not counting the sick days, I'm at day 33. I'll revisit my 60/30 splits and personal stats, this weekend. I'm staying right at weight, between 182 and 187, but it feels a lot better than the 220 something I was at during the Christmas holiday. I think the muscle weight and all the protein is keeping my from going below 182, but that's fine. I'd prefer to push it up to 190 with muscle gain - BOOT CAMP IS NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, after I finish the 60 day. I'm getting TONS of compliments on the turn around I've made. My martial arts practice is getting better and I'm not getting exhausted during full contact sparring. Gotta love this stuff!
If I dropped from 200 to 185 between the time I got and started using (01/02/08) my jungle gym and the day I started the 60 day challenge (03/10/2008), what can I really expect in regards to wieght loss and muscle gain, during the 60 day challenge. My concern is that I may have peaked, for lack of a better word, insofar as weight loss goes, and I could see a net gain with muscle increase outweighing fat loss. I know I have a few more pounds to lose but it seems to me I'll see, or might see, less weight loss and more muscle gain at this point. Any insight would be helpful. Other than that, my challenge is going great and I'm looking forward to my next test (the boot camp).

Well, today is day 1 of my 60 day challenge. I wanted to start last week but caught nasty cold and had to postpone. I've been slowly changing my diet over the last year, but it certainly will be a challenge to tweek it even more. I'm pretty good at eating 5-6 times a day with healthy doses of fruits and veggies. And while I eat red meat, it's rare and I usually opt for chicken/turkey and fish. I picked up some veggie Burgers (Boca) and I really like those so they will become a part of my regular eating. My water intake is usually around 72 ounces a day, but I need to knock out the pop, even though it's diet - this will be tough. I love chocolate but I'm making a change to the dark type with a goal to only have it once a week.
I've had my Jungle gym since Christmas, and love it. So, I bought the PowerWheel and the Train Station. Over the last three years of martial arts I went from from 221 pounds to 200. Adding the jungle gym workouts, cutting out beer (well maybe once a week) since Christmas, I'm now down to 185 - my weight before I quit smoking 6 years ago. Now my goal is to reach the average for muscle gain and weight loss for the 60 day challenge which would put me at about 173-175. I'm so amped about this! Todays workout was great so I'll post my results and come back to them midway and see how I've improved. What a great product.
